The Madman of Piney Woods

By Chris Paul Curtis. Published in 2014 by Scholastic

Benji and Red couldn’t be more different. They aren’t friends. They don’t even live in the same town. But their fates are entwined. A chance meeting leads the boys to discover that they have more in common than meets the eye. Both of them have encountered a strange presence in the forest, watching them, tracking them. Could the Madman of Piney Woods be real?

A great adventure from a different time, learned a lot about their way of life and their customs.
Had a very good ending. I liked this book.

It is a very good mystery book. The book takes place in Buxton and Chutham, Ontario in 1901. The best part of the story is when the kids were chased by their grandma (not really) I found it funny. The sad part is when the madman dies and the boy finds out who it is.

I really liked this book! I enjoy books from Christopher Paul Curtis. I had read Elijah of Buxton and so I was happy when they made Elijah and Cooter a part of the book. I’ve been telling all of my friends to read them.
