War Brothers
By Sharon E. McKay
Wow! This book is A great book I really liked it.
We really felt this was a powerful novel. It was eye- opening and made us appreciate our lives here in Canada. It was one of our highest rated books, and we would love to see it being read in junior high classes as a novel study. It was well written, and very moving. It helped us to understand much more about the world, but it's graphic contents may not be quite appropriate for grades 4 and 5. We would like many people to experience this book when they are older. P.S. We prefer the cover with the tree and the elephants on it, to this cover.
This book is really cool and sad. A boy was captured by the LRA. He had to work for them and had to be a soldier. He was about to kill his friend but he didn't his best friend did. Jacob was confused that his best friend killed his own friend. They escape the LRA and found their families.
This book was great. It is hard to believe what happens in Africa. The lives of the children and families are so different. War Brothers has some violence. I can't imagine what the people have to go through in Africa. It made me feel lucky to be living in Canada.
I loved War Brothers! Sharon E. McKay did an amazing job at writing it! To me it was very clear, and easy to follow. It was sad, and great, all at once! When I read such a great book like that, I’m proud to be Canadian!
I liked this book because War brothers because t was interesting to find out what the LRA do to kids my age. I think Madame read this book too us because if we wanted to help child solders get away and change there way being with Kony.
I loved this book! It is so far my favourite RMBA book. There was a lot of action, in parts like the escape, tense moments, when they meet the government soldiers, and sadness, like when Tony dies, but it is still my favourite! Go War Brothers!
I liked this book because it teaches us loyalty, courage, hope, forgiveness, friendship and family. I also liked characters such as Jacob, Paul and Oteka. I liked the description and sometimes I didn’t. I didn’t like the commanders or Koni.
I thought that the story was okay because it was kind of depressing. I really liked all of the action in it. I loved how the author did all of the surprises and just threw it at you. I’m glad I read it because now I know about child soldiers.
I really loved War Brothers because it taught me that family and loyalty are very important; in survival and life. It also taught me that I need to think more about others. It was very well written and very detailed.
I loved the relationships between Jacob and his friend; the author made them sound like brothers because they are so close. I thought it was very funny how the author explained Americans.
I enjoyed the story because it has action like the part when a lion almost attacked them. This is also a very sad book because some kids in the book die. The book also describes real events happening in the world.
I really enjoyed War Brothers. I had no idea that kids are being made into soldiers in Africa. I gave it a 5/5 because I can not think of any thing negative to say about this book.
I really enjoyed the book War Brothers. I learnt that kids in other places in the world are not as fortunate as us in Canada and sometimes we do not accept what we have. I would definitely recommend this book to people who like fiction books.
I really liked the book because it was adventurous, action packed, and at the same time had it’s sad moments.
I enjoyed this book because it kept it serious with some laughter, another reason is that the author wrote so fluently and only described enough so you knew the setting without over loading details.
It gave me chills at some parts and its really happening in the world. My favorite part was the start letter and the ending. It’s good that we know these things so that we can do something about it.
I liked how it really felt like it actually had happen before even thought it never did. The kidnapping, the hardships they had to face, and the love all the characters had for each other. I could actually feel the connection between them and me reading the book. I HIGHLY recommend this book to everyone in the world who can read.
This is a sad book. It is also very action packed. This book is very suspenseful. I hate this book and love it at the same time. I would recommend this to people who like action and sad books. I would rate this book 4 out of 5.
This is a story of how courageous young men and women overcome violence. I loved it!
I really enjoyed reading this book, it felt like I was actually in it! I would recommended this book who like to read about history!
"Hello people of the school" I think WAR BROTHERS is a very fascinating book. I recommend you to read WAR BROTHERS. The beginning is confusing but the rest is better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello people of the world' I have read the book war brothers. Ben 5A.
So far I am at the beginning of the book and I really like it.
Awesome book, it shows the bond between friends. Friends come through no matter what. I felt like I could relate really well to this.
it was a really awesome book!!!!:)
War Brothers is a great novel about two boys and the bond between them when they get captured to the LRA {Lords Resistance Army} and about the gang of rebels which are children who kill people in towns, steal their belongings/food and who go to war. child labour is a horrible thing and it is our duty to stop it children shouldn't have to go to war and see the images that will stay in their minds forever. War Brothers is an amazing, emotional book and I highly recommend it.
