Gold Medal 2017
Svetlana Chmakova the author of the 2017 Gold Medal Award winning graphic novel Awkward visited schools in Alberta and received her Gold Medal at the Lethbridge Public Library”s Word On The Street
Svetlana visited Meyokumin School and Duggan School in Edmonton, Captain Nichola Goddard School and Langevin School in Calgary, R. I Baker School in Coaldale, Canyon School in Pincher Creek, and Senator Buchanan and Gilbert Paterson Middle School in Lethbridge. All the school visits were sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Book Award.
Svetlana was presented her Medal by Rocky Mountain Book Award Co-Chairs Michelle Dimnik and Ruth McMahon.
Dr. Gerald Probe students presented a skit of Awkward.

Rona Arato visited Alberta during the week of November 1 – 6, 2015 to receive her Rocky Mountain Book Award 2015 Gold Medal for her winning title, The Last Train a Holocaust Story. Rona had a busy week with 11 school readings all sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Book Award. She received her medal from RMBA Co-chairs Ruth McMahon and Michelle Dimnik at Chinook High School. The medal was presented again at the University of Lethbridge Book Store, this reading was open to the general public. Rona visited schools in Lethbridge, Coaldale, Brooks, Medicine Hat and Calgary.
