Pink is for Blobfish: Discovering the World’s Perfectly Pink Animals

Written by Jess Keating.
Published in 2016 by Alfred A. Knopf.

Pinkalicious meets National Geographic in this nonfiction picture book introducing the weirdest, wildest, pinkest critters in the animal kingdom!

Sure, pink is the color of princesses and bubblegum, but it’s also the color of monster slugs and poisonous insects. Not to mention ultra-intelligent dolphins, naked mole rats, and bizarre, bloated blobfish. Isn’t it about time to rethink pink?

Slip on your rose-colored glasses and take a walk on the wild side with zoologist Jess Keating, author of How to Outrun a Crocodile When Your Shoes Are Untied, and cartoonist David DeGrand.

This book is a book about many pink animals like a blobfish. It has many facts about those animals like habitat, predators and things it eats. At the back, it has a map of the world and shows where those pink animals are home to.

It is superior to other books on topic because it explained it in a fun way. The writing style was really easy to read and clear.

The theme of the book was obvious because when you look at the cover you can tell that it is about animals. This book raised a topic which is animals that are pink.

Pink Is For Blobfish helps us understand that we need to be more aware of animal health

In conclusion, I think that Pink Is For Blobfish is a good book and a good way to learn about pink animals. I would give this book an 8/10 because it was really clear and it had a lot of useful information. I think that Jess Keating did a good job talking about pink animals in a fun way. I recommend this for age 8-12.

Pink is for Blobfish is a book written by Jess Keating about the worlds forgotten pink animals such as the Blobfish, Pygmy Seahorse, and many more. It tells you where the animals live and other information about them in detail.

I think the pictures are the most interesting part because they show you how the animals look very clearly. I believe all students from grade 2-5 should read this book because it increases children’s knowledge about animals and how some are extinct. The text style is obvious and easy to read. It talks a lot about extinction which is a problem in our world. The theme is obvious because it talks a lot about pink and animals. The pages are neatly organized and there is a huge variety of animals. There is also a map at the end to show where the animals live so you can see if any live near you! The purpose of this book is to teach young children about pink animals and the purpose of the book has been achieved and I highly recommend reading it.

This book is a great book and you should read it if you want to.

“Pink is for Blobfish” is a book that teaches us all about pink animals like hippos, and I didn’t even know blobfish existed! Pinktoe tarantulas, Orchid mantises, Pygmy seahorses, Roseate spoonbills, Amazon river dolphins, Pink fairy armadillos, Southern blind snakes, Hopkins rose nudibranchs, Naked mole rats, Pink sea stars, Pink slugs, Pink land iguanas, Dragon millipedes, Red uakaris, and hairy squat lobsters along with Blobfishes and Hippopotamuses are pink in this book.

I liked this book, because it told me about animals. I prefer adventurous books because they have a lot more action than these non-fiction books. Nonetheless, I liked it. “Pink is for Blobfish. Discovering Perfectly Pink Animals”

It was very interesting and funny. Who knew pink was so ugly and cool?

  12. Wildwood School

It was smart to make a book about all the creatures that are pink and were they live.I love how they tell you about their facts thats why I’ll rate it 7/10.

I really enjoyed Pink is for Blobfish! It has a lot of humor and really teaches me about new animals. I’ve got to admit, I only knew like three of the animals. The book is really detailed and includes basically everything I need to know; name, species name, size, diet, habitat, predators and threat. It also has fun facts. I also think that the book will quickly spread the word, that animals are going to become extinct!? I never even knew there were so many pink animals, to fill up a perfect children’s book! I especially like the back of the book where it just describes pink!

  14. Grande Cache Municipal Library and Sonrise Christian School

I thought it was cool because everything was pink the thing I did’t like about it is that big or small insects.

“Pink is for Blobfish” Is a great non-fiction book about animals that are pink around the world.
It tells you about pink animals and their traits like the… the pink sea star… it’s stomach comes out of its mouth if the prey is too big.
There are way more pink animals than you think and this book proves that. Most of these animals I had no idea existed and now I want to do more research about them (but I’m lazy so I won’t).
