OCDaniel

Written by Wesley King.
Published in 2016 by Simon & Schuster.

From the author of Incredible Space Raiders from Space! comes a brand-new coming-of-age story about a boy whose life revolves around hiding his obsessive compulsive disorder—until he gets a mysterious note that changes everything.

Daniel is the back-up punter for the Erie Hills Elephants. Which really means he’s the water boy. He spends football practice perfectly arranging water cups—and hoping no one notices. Actually, he spends most of his time hoping no one notices his strange habits—he calls them Zaps: avoiding writing the number four, for example, or flipping a light switch on and off dozens of times over. He hopes no one notices that he’s crazy, especially his best friend Max, and Raya, the prettiest girl in school. His life gets weirder when another girl at school, who is unkindly nicknamed Psycho Sara, notices him for the first time. She doesn’t just notice him: she seems to peer through him.

Then Daniel gets a note: “I need your help,” it says, signed, Fellow Star child—whatever that means. And suddenly Daniel, a total no one at school, is swept up in a mystery that might change everything for him.

With great voice and grand adventure, this book is about feeling different and finding those who understand.

I thought it was very good, and I like how it has a tiny twist nearing the middle of it. I liked it a lot overall, and would definitely recommend it to anyone. I finished it overnight as well!

OCDaniel is a great book, I think that the author did a good job of explaining someone’s life of OCD. It’s good to read a book like this for both entertainment and education, and it grabs your attention throughout the whole book. I think that Daniel worked out well for his situation and the part of the book where he is called a used Q-Tip is hilarious! The way you write from multiple points of view and making Daniel special is amazing, I would not be able to write in the detail and pureness in non-fiction writing that you do, and to be able to have stories within stories is even more amazing! I love this book and would recommend it to anyone who wants a story with a boy who has “powers”. This book would make more people want to learn from you and it would be great for you to have a lot more people wanting to read your book. I would recommend this book and I love your style of writing.

    O C Daniel

O C Daniel written by Wesley King, and published by SimonandSchuster, I think is a great book! The book is at sometimes very sad but sometimes hilarious and it really gets you into the mood of what is set in the book at that exact moment. He struggles with his obsessive compulsive disorder, having to flick a light on and off multiple times and avoid writing the number four it’s difficult for him especially when he’s in a hurry. It’s a mysterious adventure alongside Sara discovering many things along their way. If I were to rate this book I would give it a 5 star because I feel like it was a very well written book, it had lots of details, and it was very specific so understood it very well. I think everybody should at one point in their life to get a chance to read this amazing book!
