How to Outrun a Crocodile When Your Shoes Are Untied

Written by Jess Keating.
Published in 2014 by Sourcebooks.

Ana didn’t ask to be named after an anaconda. She didn’t ask for zoologist parents who look like safari guides. And she definitely didn’t ask for a twin brother whose life goal seems to be terrorizing her with his pet reptiles. Now, to make matters worse, her parents have decided to move the whole family INTO the zoo! All of which gives the Sneerers (the clan of carnivorous female predators in her class) more ammunition to make her life miserable-and squash any hope of class tennis stud, Zack, falling in love with her.

Very interesting, kind of funny. It reminded me of going to the zoo. There are three main characters their name’s are Ane Liv and Daz.

I didn’t get through this book very far. When the book started talking about training bras, I returned the book back to the library. I did tell a friend of mine – who is a girl, to read this book and let me know what happened.

I think this book is really interesting and captures the readers attention. I also think it is really creative to have “creature files” and a girl named after an anaconda as the main character. I also like how it was about animals because I like animals. Another thing I like is the different names for groups of people (like “sneerers”) and how there are creature names for everyone in the book.

I think it was a great book that had revenge written all over it.Ana embarrassed her bully all over the internet and made everyone think twice about her.Even though Ana was named after a snake and wanted to disappear she spoke up for herself and everything turned out. She figured out that her crush was secretly on her bullies the sneerer sides and and showed him what she thought of that. Definitely a great book that i encourage everyone to read and comment on.

  5. Hillhurst School

I think this book was really humorous and interesting at the same time. It kept me laughing the whole time except for parts that were kind of sad. I really liked this book and I like the fact that Ana had many different aspects in her personality that showed of different people.
