Svetlana Chmakova the author of the 2017 Gold Medal Award winning graphic novel Awkward visited schools in Alberta and received her Gold Medal at the Lethbridge Public Library”s Word On The Street.
Svetlana visited Meyokumin School and Duggan School in Edmonton, Captain Nichola Goddard School and Langevin School in Calgary, R. I Baker School in Coaldale, Canyon School in Pincher Creek, and Senator Buchanan and Gilbert Paterson Middle School in Lethbridge. All the school visits were sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Book Award.
